My undergraduate thesis was a children’s book based on donkeys and their mistreatment in Pakistan called, “Our Friends”(Set in the premise of 2018 elections and the true incident of some politically charged PTI followers who took their frustrations out on a helpless donkey.)

The story revolves around "Ali" and his Donkey named "Hero". Ali belongs to a working-class family that need hero as a source of income. To essentially to transport heavy goods as donkeys are labour-intensive animals and are used as such. Ali and hero are best friends as they spend a lot of time together.
A typical morning in Ali's house. Getting ready to transport and deliver goods. Hero is strapped to a donkey cart which is very common in Pakistan. his neighborhood is a cluster of closely built houses with narrow alleyways which is a very typical setting of grass root families.
as an animal lover, this scene was particularly brutal to draw!! Here hero is being beaten by some political followers. This is perhaps the first ever piece that i drew with such detail. while sketching this page i discovered my love for drawing environments and backgrounds.
